Charis has some eye goop :-(

Our first time with a sick baby has gone pretty well. She woke up last night with a blocked tear duct, causing some swolleness in her eye as well as nasty yellow goo to seal her eye shut. She didn't cry to much about it though. We got some drops for her and the swelling is already going down.

On another matter, she hasn't been feeding very well. It's like she is hungry, but just won't take the food that is right in front of her. Even now at this young age she is showing stubborness and a willfulness to do things her way or not at all. The world may tell us that she's just being a baby, she'll grow out of it, don't worry, but we know why. The sin nature is inborn in all of us. What a picture of that she has been. For all of her cuteness and adorability, she still has those selfish tendencies already. Hopefully we can train her up to obedience and selflessness, but we have time for that. She only 10 days old after all, and we have a lifetime (or at least 18 years or so) to pour ourselves into her and show her Christ's love and show her the grace she was named after.

If you can, pray for patience for us. Not only do we have little Charis to care for, but also life keeps moving on in all other areas. We continue to wait on God for full-time work as well as a buyer for our house. We have no doubt that He will take care of us, and we look forward to how He will bring glory to His name through us. We'll keep you posted on how it all works out.

By the way, she is growing like crazy. She has already maxed out the length of the arms and legs of a few of her newborn clothes. She's going to be a giant...

Isn't mommy beautiful?? I think so

She loves sucking on the pinky

Eye goop. That's yuck. They always told me to massage the blocked duct. Don't know if that will help, but it's worth a try:)

I'm missing you guys, and am trying to figure out when I can get to Chicago to see you (maybe in November?)

When A was a "teeny, tiny baby" as she says, she didn't feed well for the first few weeks... Believe me, I know the pain (literally!) I know it's tough, but God has already equiped you in ways you don't even know. Keep looking to him for the anwsers.

So sad with my little niece and her eye goop! I am so sorry guys! I hope she gets better soon. I have been praying for all of you: for sleep, for feeding, for health, for growth. I hope God keeps showing you amazing things about your little girl and about being parents. I love you and miss you all terribly! Kisses all around!
