Day 4 and still awake

We are now on day four of Charis's little life. She is so precious. I could say I am wasted from the loss of sleep and exausted by all the work of maintaining a newborn, but I'm really not. We've been able to sleep a little here and there, but we're having so much fun with her I don't even notice that I'm tired, unless Charis falls asleep... then I'm out.

Right now Moriah and Charis are taking a little nap. Charis has been doing great with feeding and being a good little girl while I change her. The diapers have been a little gross, but after seeing her born, I think I have a new definition of what gross really is.

We had her check-up this morning and the doc said that she looks great. No jaundice (is that how you spell it?) and the normal amount of weightloss for a newborn. She is actually sleeping too much now and, as you can see in the picture, she can hold her own head up, in certain positions. There are so many things that could be freaking us out right now, but with the classes we've taken and the support from friends and family, we feel confident to take on these early stages of parenthood. We'll have to wait and see about the other stages ;-)

We are so excited God has brought this little one into our life. As He guides us through this
time, we are growing more and more confident that God will provide and take care of us all, no matter what. So, until next time, enjoy the pictures...

Charis is finally here!!!

Well, Charis Moriah Huff is finally here, in person, and I must say she is the cutest little girl I've ever held. She was born yesterday, September 1st, at 3:30 pm after 15 hours of labor by my beautiful and courageous wife, Moriah. She weighs in at 7 lbs. 6oz. and is 20 inches long, so far...

As she came into this world I can only describe the feeling as total awe and wonder that our precious child was here. Granted, it was pretty gross, but also amazing to see a baby born, and then to get to care for her and love her and take her home... I must say it was a little overwhelming, but definetely a good overwhelming. I'll say much more in the future, but I must go spend some time with her. Here are some pictures to dwell on for the time being...

There ya go. You enjoy the pictures, I'll enjoy her. Bye bye.

A Little Grace on the way

As many of you probably know, we have a baby coming soon. The official due date is Sept. 4 (Labor Day), although the baby will be ready to go in about 3 weeks. We finally have everything purchased and set up and are ready to go; at least, as much as we can be ready with a new baby coming. We are so excited to expand our family and to become parents. We've actually taken a class with my parents about parenting, and it is amazing how much fear is taken out of this process when you know what you are doing, or at least have a guide to follow. I guess that is that same with any situation in life really. We are trusting in our Sovereign God for a lot of things right now, but this new baby coming is definitely the biggest one.

Her name is going to be Charis. For you Greek buffs out there, that is pronounced with a K sound, like Christ, and it is the Greek word for grace. We thought it appropriate to name our daughter that because it is only by the grace of God that she is coming into our lives.

I will try to keep this blog updated with pictures and updates, but so far so good. She is coming and nothing is in her way. We are trusting God to bring her out safe and sound and we'll rejoice when she gets here. Later......
